One of the primary objectives of the Garn Al Sabkha-Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project is to reduce travel distances and times. Commuters travelling from Garn Al Sabkha Street to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, towards Al Qusais and Deira can now expect a remarkable 40% reduction in travel time during peak hours, cutting it from 20 to 12 minutes. Moreover, motorists heading from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Al Yalayes Street, directing to Jebel Ali Port, will experience a staggering 70% decrease in journey time, plummeting from 21 minutes to just 7 minutes.
Key Features Of The New Bridge
Spanning an impressive length of 666 meters, the newly inaugurated bridge boasts the capacity to accommodate a substantial flow of traffic, with an estimated 3,200 vehicles passing through per hour. Its strategic positioning diverts traffic seamlessly from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to the service road leading to Jumeirah Golf Estate and Dubai Production City.
Under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, the project’s progress is monitored. As confirmed by Al Tayer, the project, currently at 90% completion, promises to revolutionise travel dynamics at the intersection, facilitating smoother traffic flows and enhanced connectivity between key routes like Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.
