The central government has major plans to celebrate the Independence Day event on 15 August at the Red Fort. To commemorate this historical day, the government has initiated a lot of steps for a grand celebration in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and esteemed guests. What are the government’s big plans as a part of the Independence Day celebrations?

PM Modi Will Unfurl The National Flag At The Red Fort

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the National Flag on this momentous occasion. Major Nikita Nair and Major Jasmine Kaur will be assisting the PM to unfurl the National Flag, according to the government press release. Right after this, two Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv of the Indian Air Force in the Line Astern Formation will be showering flower petals at the celebration venue from the top. PM Modi will also address the customary address.

1800 Guests To Join The Independence Day Celebrations

As part of the government’s ‘Jan Bhagidari’, about 1800 special guests have been invited for the Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. Jan Bhagidari is an initiative that aims to motivate citizens to participate in governance. In fact, this is a government initiative to encourage people and promote participation.

This list of 1800 special guests includes representatives from the Farmer Producer Organisations scheme, Sarpanches of villages, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Khadi workers, primary school teachers, Shram Yogis of the Central Vista Project, fishermen, nurses, workers involved with the Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana, and more, according to a report by NDTV.

One of the major highlights of the 2023 Independence Day celebrations is the selfie points at different places all around Delhi. The government has installed a total of 12 selfie points in 12 areas. These points are constructed on the basis of various initiatives and schemes of the government. This is a significant move by the government to encourage people for participating in the Independence Day celebrations. In fact, a selfie contest is coming up well. The Ministry of Defence is conducting this on the MyGov portal, according to the press release. Also, the duration of this contest is 15-20 August 2023.
