From Reducing Travel Time To Its Top Speed, Here’s All About India’s 1st Hyperloop Train

India has the fourth largest railway network in the world and soon, the country’s railway infrastructure will undergo a massive transformation. The centre has approved India’s first hyperloop test project and this high-speed transit system will drastically reduce travel time and improve connectivity across the country. Scroll on to know more about this upcoming corridor that will transform the way people travel in India.

According to India.Com, Indian Railways has collaborated with IIT Madras and TuTr Hyperloop to build India’s first hyperloop corridor. Hyperloop is a high-speed train that runs in a vacuum in a tube. This revolutionary shift in India’s railway infrastructure will ease travel for passengers by reducing travel time.

The official routes for the upcoming hyperloop corridor haven’t been announced yet. However, as per reports, the new hyperloop trains will take you from Bhubaneswar to Cuttack in two minutes, Bhubaneswar to Rourkela in just 18 minutes, and Delhi to Jaipur in less than half an hour!

Union Minister of Railways of India Ashwini Vaishnaw recently visited the hyperloop testing facility at IIT Madras. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that the hyperloop tube, measuring 410 meters in length, will soon be the world’s longest tube.

While all the technology for this hyperloop train corridor will be developed at ICF Chennai, the Railway Ministry has provided financial funding and technical assistance to them.

Here are some interesting features of India’s first hyperloop train corridor –

1. This upcoming railway system will have a network of sealed, low-pressure tubes that will minimise air resistance.
2. Pods (capsules) are lifted and propelled through the tubes using magnetic levitation and linear induction motors. This allows for frictionless movement, India.Com reported.

3. The hyperloop train pods are designed to travel at speeds potentially exceeding 1,125 kmph. This is significantly faster than conventional trains and even air travel at certain distances.
4. It is to be noted that hyperloop train systems are designed for direct, point-to-point travel. This eliminates the need for intermediate stops.
