Etihad Rail is the much-talked-about service in the country. In fact, the Etihad Rail service is the first national rail service in the country. The service has finally launched, and many people are booking tickets to experience the service. The first route connects Abu Dhabi to Fujairah. But did you know that several passenger categories are eligible for a fare discount and exemption? Yes, this comes under Etihad Rail’s passenger charter, and here’s all you need to know about it.

Etihad Rail Announces Discount For Passenger Categories

Under the passenger charter of Etihad Rail, some categories of passengers are eligible for fare discounts and exemptions. For instance, children are eligible for half-price tickets, while there is even discounted travel for senior citizens. Moreover, infants can travel for free! Regarding fare discounts, children under 18 receive a 50% discount on all fares.

What About The Fare For Children?

It should be noted that passengers might also be asked to present a valid identification in order to confirm their age. Moreover, any child who is under the age of 14 must be travelling with an accompanying adult, as revealed in a report by Gulf News. Senior citizens who are aged 60 and above are also eligible for a 20% discount on all fares. This is for both UAE nationals and residents. The company has mentioned how wallet identification is mandatory for verifying eligibility. So, adults who are aged between 18 and 59 will be charged the standard fare, unless there is another approved discount.

Infants Up To The Age Of Two Can Travel For Free

Not only this, but infants up to the age of two can also travel for free, given they sit on the lap of the accompanying adult and do not require a separate seat. Infants cannot be allocated a separate baggage allowance. However, if there is more than one infant travelling with the same adult, a child ticket will have to be purchased for each additional infant. The introductory fares start at AED55 in the Comfort Class and AED120 for Premium Class for the Abu Dhabi-Fujairah Route.

The fares will continue to be reviewed as the network expands and passenger demand develops. Not to mention, charter would remain a developing reference document, and it would be reviewed and updated in coordination with the relevant authorities.
