“Khaane mein kya hai?” is probably everyone’s favourite and most pertinent question. On the first day of the coveted G20 Summit in Delhi, we have deets about what the dignitaries gorged on for lunch and what awaits them at the dinner table on Day 1. With the ongoing theme of a vegetarian millet-based menu celebrating Indian flavour at all its glory, read on to know the answer to “Khanne mein kya hai?”

Here’s What’s On The Menu On Day 1 Of The G20 Summit In Delhi

Post the wonderful conclusion of Session 1 of the G20 summit, world leaders lunched at the dining area of the Bharat Madapam. ITC Hotels the chief caterer of the 2-day summit didn’t reveal the lunch menu for September 9. However, according to Times Of India, the dignitaries were treated to an elaborate all-vegetarian millet-based menu of kurkuri bhindi, paneer tilwala, zafrani gucchi pulao and tandoori aloo.

The elaborate menu showcases India’s rich flavours and phenomenal culinary talent. With 2023, declared as the International Year of Millets, a source revealed to Moneycontrol that ITC with its culinary experts and renowned chefs drew a menu that reflects the theme of the summit – Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (world is a family).

President Doupadi Murmu will host a G20 dinner with a total of 170 guests on the list of special invitees. An all-vegetarian dinner will await the world leaders on Saturday, Day 1 of the G20 Summit in Delhi. The menu once again features Indian flavours and innovative dishes made with millets.

Bihar’s Litti Chokha To Uttapam From South India

According to ABP Live, the menu features Indian chaat favourites like Dahi Bhalla, Vada Pav, Samosa, Dahi Puri, Tikki, Bhelpuri and Bikaneri Dal Paratha, among others. With samosas and parathas made of millet, guests can taste the earthiness of these superfoods.

Also, the G20 Summit dinner takes guests on a voyage of flavours across Indian destinations. There’s Uttapam from South India, Dal Tadka from Punjab, Litti Chokha from Bihar, Dal Bati Churma from Rajasthan and more. For desserts, there are Indian mithai like Mishri Mawa, Motichoor Laddoo, Gum Pudding, and more.
