G7 Summit 2023 PM Narendra Modi Unveils A Bust Of Mahatma Gandhi In Japan’s Hiroshima

Prime Miniter Narendra Modi is currently in Japan to attend the G7 Summit 2023. Modi Ji landed in Japan on 19 May 2023 for this summit. Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida invited him to attend and be a part of the G7 Summit hosted in Hiroshima. On his second day in Hiroshima, PM Modi unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi. Leaders of the G7 nations also arrived at the Japanese city to attend this annual summit. It began on 19 May and will continue till 21 May.

Narendra Modi Uncovered The Bust Of Mahatma Gandhi On Saturday

PM Modi shared some glimpses of unveiling the bust of Mahatma Gandhi on his social media. He unveiled it ahead of the second day of the summit at the Hiroshima Peace Park. This city is known for the infamous nuclear attack and Modi ji unveiled it here to carry the idea of non-violence forward. He also paid his respect and tribute to Gandhi Ji with flowers.

The Indian Government has gifted the Mahatma Gandhi bust to Japan as a symbol of friendship and goodwill. As shared by Arindam Bagchi, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, in a tweet, this is “a befitting tribute to a city that symbolises humanity’s yearning for peace.”

Narendra Modi shared with the reporters about how people get scared when they hear about Hiroshima. And the unveiling of the bust of Mahatma Gandhi near the bombing dome will spread the message of peace and non-violence.

Indian PM Had A Productive Meeting With Presidents & Prime Ministers

Modi Ji had a meeting with Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida where they discussed different ways for the improvement of India-Japan friendship in several sectors.

PM Modi also had a meeting with Yoon Suk Yeol, the President of the Republic of Korea on the second day of the summit. They talked about several ways to enhance the friendship between India and the Republic of Korea.

Narendra Modi also had a discussion with Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh about various aspects of India-Vietnam friendship.

The  Group of Seven (G7) Summit is a group of 7 economies of the world that are known for being advanced and leading in industrialisation. The nations included in G7 are Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Along with these nations, European Union also join.
