With an everlasting smile on her wrinkled face, Manjeet Kaur, an old lady who is a resident of Tagore Garden in West Delhi, puts out her small cart called ‘Ghar Ka Punjabi Khana’ in Rajouri Garden. Her heart is filled with warmth and her food is made out of pure love.
The food adheres to its name, it is made with slightest of preparation, very simple and not too spicy or too oily. Mrs. Manjeet Kaur’s food cart is just three years old and she has already won the hearts of many who have come to try her food.
She prepares the dishes early in the morning and serves it with fresh paranthas and chapatis on the spot. You can indulge in sookhe aloo ki subzi, rajma, and boondi raita. Her food cart also sells delicious karhi which is not too sour and a perfect blend of spices. The homeliness and the apnapan bring out the excellent taste in her food which many love to devour with delighted hearts.
Mrs. Kaur’s husband has also played a pivotal role in her life. Her husband, who is an auto rickshaw driver, helps her in the cooking and drops her every morning to the pavement spot along with her dishes, utensils, gas and cooking cylinder. Majeet Kaur also does home deliveries and is operating a tiffin service.
