As per NDTV, about four hours into the journey, while flying over Saudi Arabian airspace, the crew noticed unusual noises suggesting a technical issue. Following safety protocols, they decided to turn back and land in the capital. The aircraft safely touched down at approximately 12:30 PM.
The flight number was A350-900, registered VT-JRF. This is not the first time the aircraft has reported technical issues. On March 15, the same plane faced an issue while operating a New York-to-Delhi flight and was diverted to Shannon in Ireland. The airline assured that it follows high safety standards, and the aircraft is now undergoing proper security checks.

How Passengers Reacted To Unexpected Return?
When the Air India flight returned to Delhi, passengers were upset because their flight had to return unexpectedly. According to NDTV, the airline apologised for the trouble and promised to help them continue their journey. Air India is working to arrange alternative flights so that affected travellers can reach London as soon as possible.
While exact details about the number of passengers onboard AI111 were not disclosed, flight tracking information shows the plane remained airborne for almost seven hours in total. The decision to return was made carefully, prioritising passenger safety above all.
