But this year, instead of heading to Indian hill stations, travellers are showing more interest in international getaways — especially between December 2025 and February 2026. Indian Families Eye International Winter Travel
When it’s about planning winter travel, Indian families are looking more into destinations that offer snow, festivals, and cultural experiences. As per Agoda’s latest data, it’s been revealed that travellers are showing interest in both Asian and European destinations. Within Asia, South Korea has seen the biggest jump in interest with a 226% rise, followed by China with with a 105% surge in interest, and Kazakhstan with a 68% hike. Taiwan and Japan continue to be family favourites, seeing steady growth of 44% and 41% respectively this year.
In South Korea, people can enjoy ski resorts and also get some K-drama-inspired winter vibes. China attracts visitors with its famous ice festivals and old heritage towns. Kazakhstan’s mountain landscapes offer scenic escapes and adventure, while Japan draw interest from families with its hot springs, cultural sites, and fun attractions like Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studios Japan. Lastly, Taiwan, on the other hand, keeps travellers engaged with lantern festivals and buzzing night markets.

Winter Holiday In Europe
Europe is also winning the hearts of Indian families this season. Austria leads this trend with an 82% increase in travel interest, followed by Germany (43%), Finland (33%), Italy (27%), and France (20%). These countries are known for their magical Christmas markets, beautiful ski resorts, and winter that looks straight out of a fairytale.
Agoda’s latest report shows the shift in winter travel interest among Indian families. They are now moving beyond beach vacation. Indians want their vacation to be filled with seasonal experiences that mix adventure, culture, and relaxation.
