Video Shows Woman Paraglider’s Terrifying Fall In Austria; Miraculously Escapes With Minor Injuries

A 44-year-old woman paraglider survived miraculously after an aircraft sliced through her canopy mid-air while paragliding in Austria. Fortunately, the paraglider was safe but suffered minor bruises. The video of the incident has now gone viral online, leaving netizens terrified. Here’s what exactly happened.

Woman Paraglider Survives After Aircraft Collides With Canopy

Recently, a 44-year-old woman, Sabrina, was paragliding over the Austrian Alps when a small plane, a Cessna 172, collided with the main canopy of her parachute mid-air. According to a video posted on X by @CollinRugg, the woman was seen screaming and spiralling downwards. Fortunately, she managed to deploy an emergency parachute in time.

According to NDTV World, the woman is an experienced paraglider and was flying with a camera when a sightseeing plane suddenly passed through her canopy. The incident happened on the afternoon of May 23 near Schmittenhöhe mountain, a popular spot for paragliding in northern Austria.

Sabrina also took to her Instagram to share an update. She wrote, “That day when a paraglider takes you out of the sky as a Cessna 172. I actually still can’t believe that I’m sitting here typing this, and apart from a few nasty bruises and bruises all around, nothing really happened. She also called the day her “second birthday.”

Pilot Could Not Avoid Collision 

According to NDTV World, Austrian police deployed a helicopter and transported Sabrina to a local airport for medical checks. Meanwhile, the pilot of the aircraft, a 28-year-old man, told authorities that he was unable to avoid the collision after landing at Zell am See Airport.

Fortunately, both the paraglider and the pilot escaped serious injuries. Netizens were quick to flood the comment section with reactions. One user wrote, “This might be the most insane paragliding video I have ever seen, glad you are okay.” Another Instagram user added, “Sorry for what happened to you. However, you were very lucky thanks to your courage and knowledge. Never ever give up!”
