GO Transit Launches 1st Diwali Train In Canada; All Aboard The Diwali Train!

Canada has a significant Indian diaspora. Hence, to be mindful of the community and its celebration, GO Transit has launched a Diwali special train. It is bright red in colour and is decked with flowers on the inside. Passengers are also being given special treats like masala chai. This special train started from November 10 to 26. Here is everything you need to know about this particular special train!

GO Transit Launches 1st Diwali Train In Canada

The train started running on November 10 and will continue to ply until November 26. However, if you want to partake in the special festivities hop on the train before November 15 because that’s when the festivities end. In order to make the trip even more special, they have announced special offers and discounts.

You can take advantage of the $10 weekend pass with which you’ll get unlimited travelling throughout the weekend. Weekday Group Passes start at $30. What is more, kids of ages below 12 can ride the train for free! This added bonus is especially amazing considering how thrilled kids will be while riding the train. It will ply across the Greater Golden Horseshoe or the GGH.

A short video on the subject was also shared by Waddup Canada, who are Canada-based digital creators, on their Instagram. The video was posted around seven hours ago and already, it has received close to 2.5 thousand views likes and even more views. And the number just keeps increasing. Many commenters were in awe of the train!

All Aboard The Fancy Diwali Train!

Many people, both in India as well as in Canada, were quite impressed with this move. Many who were in India and didn’t have the option to ride the train expressed their regret at not being able to do so. Surely, this move will make the Indian diaspora feel a little closer to home seeing all the floral decorations and the drums!

The train is a great initiative for other reasons as well. For many kids, it will feel like Christmas came early, especially since goodies and treats are being handed out. It will also be a fantastic opportunity for kids, especially the ones who might not be familiar with it, to learn more about Diwali and the festival of lights.

This initiative will also promote inclusivity and tolerance within the region as well. Diwali indicates the triumph of light over darkness and goodness over evil. It is also known as the festival of lights and hence, is a lot like Christmas.
