Goa Gets New Interactive Museum That Used To Be A Prison; Shows Struggles Of Its Land & People

Goa recently received a new attraction, an interactive museum! Named “Goa – The Land, The Struggle, The People,” this museum is situated inside what used to be an old museum. This particular interactive museum stretches across three prison cells which each showcase different aspects of this iconic state. If you’re a history aficionado, a visit here is a must. Here is everything that you will need to know about this particular museum if you plan on visiting it soon!

Goa Gets New Interactive Museum Inside Old Prison

Goa is one of the biggest tourist hotspots in the country. With its plethora of beaches and even more restaurants and bars, there is no dearth of entertainment for those who visit the place. It is also sometimes known as the party capital of India. However, if you’re not a party person, fret not! Because Goa has now unveiled one of its most intellectual attractions, a new museum!

This particular attraction was announced by Rohan Khaunte, who is the Minister of Tourism of Goa. In a post made on the micro-blogging website X (formerly known as Twitter), Khaunte said that the new museum was inaugurated in the presence of Michael Lobo, the MLA of Calangute and Suneel Anchipaka (IAS), who is the Director of Tourism.

According to an article recently published by Outlook Traveller, the museum was inaugurated on October 24. As per Khaunte, it will only serve to enrich the already diverse tapestry of experiences that Goa offers to its visitors. It will serve to not only fascinate but also inform and educate the visitors about the rich history of the state.

Shows Struggles Of This Iconic Indian State

The museum is located inside an old decommissioned prison and is spread across three prison cells. Each of the cells is dedicated to one aspect of the state. Room One is named “Goa – The Land.” It is filled with information about Goa’s geographical landscape and also has interactive maps so that visitors can engage with them while learning about the state.

The second room, Room Two, is named “Goa – The Struggle” and it is filled with the history of Goa’s freedom struggle. Complete with a Gamified Time Machine, it makes for an innovative and fun way to learn about the lesser-known freedom struggle of this beachy state. There is even a wall dedicated solely to the freedom fighters!

Lastly, Room Three which is named “Goa – The People” takes a deep dive into the ethnographic and anthropological aspects of the state. All in all, it sounds like just the thing for those who love history.
