Good News, This Indore Restaurant Has Introduced A Braille Menu For Visually Impaired Individuals

Reading menus in restaurants might be one of the biggest challenges for people who are visually impaired. Restaurants frequently provide printed menus with small types and frequently lack braille equivalents, which makes this problem particularly noticeable. A restaurant in Indore has taken proactive action to address the long-standing issue by providing menu cards in Braille writing, enabling diners who are blind to independently order their meals.

On Saturday, the programme was introduced at the Gurukripa restaurant in the city. On Saturday, a few visually impaired children from Mahesh Drishtihin Kalyan Sangh were invited to the restaurant for the occasion. The kids looked over the menu card that was written in Braille before placing their orders.

After speaking with restaurant owners, the Young Indians group of the Confederation of Indian Industry came up with the idea for this campaign. According to Bhavna Ganediwal, chair of the Young Indian Group, they had invited vision-challenged kids from Mahesh Drishtihin Kalyan Sangh to treat them at the restaurant.

At the restaurant, they had given them Braille-script menu cards to use. For the benefit of the blind, these Braille writing cards will be available in this restaurant starting today.

This Braille script card was specially purchased from Chandigarh and ten of these cards will be delivered to other restaurants. All of these establishments have consented to use menu cards with Braille script, she continued.

When referring to the restaurant’s visually challenged patrons, she remarked that people with visual impairments will acquire confidence and self-respect knowing that they will not be dependent on anyone for ordering food at the restaurant. Moreover, they want to launch this programme in additional cities.

Simran Bhatia Sharma, the proprietor of Gurkripa restaurant, stated that the Young Indians Group had called them and requested that they create menu cards in Braille script. Up to this point, they lacked such a facility and never gave this any thought. All seven of their restaurants will participate in this project when it begins.
