“Passengers, I want pin-drop silence!”, “Form a straight line!”, and “Is this an airport or a fish market?” Such memorable utterances will soon be heard at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. This is because the government school teachers have been temporarily relocated to the IGI Delhi airport. This move is done to ensure that appropriate behaviour is followed on account of the rising cases of COVID-19 disease in Delhi.
Govt. School Teachers In-Charge Of Discipline At Delhi Airport
Due to the surge in the cases of COVID-19 in Delhi, the government has decided to deploy the school teachers to the Indira Gandhi International airport. This deployment will last only for 15 days from the 31st of December 2022 to the 15th of January 2023. The teachers will act as additional staff to aid the airport personnel in maintaining protocol. They will help ensure that the incoming passengers follow COVID-19-appropriate behaviour like maintaining distance and wearing masks. Additionally, the district magistrate has also released a directive in this regard. There are a total of 85 teaching and non-teaching staff from the government schools of Delhi.
Govt. Schools To Remain Closed In The Meantime
In the meantime, owing to the absence of school teachers on account of their temporary relocation, the government schools of Delhi will remain closed for the 15 days the teachers are working at the airport. We hope that the unruly passengers won’t be sent to detention forcing them to miss their flight! Or maybe they all will go home with remarks on their passports! Who knows, maybe the latecomers will have to kneel down outside the airport as punishment!
