For those who aren’t aware, candy maker, Hafız Mustafa 1864 is a fine dessert shop that was established by Hadji İsmail Hakkı Bey in the year 1864. Founded during the reign of Sultan Abdulaziz Khan in Bahçekapı, Istanbul, this shop was later taken over by his son, Hafiz Mustafa. As it happens, it’s a well-known fact that Hafiz Mustafa is the first to have manufactured the salt pastry called Pogaca. Not to mention, it also won 11 medals in Europe for bakery and confectionery between the years 1926 to 1938. The age-old eatery, which is easily over 150 years old, has been dedicated to the culinary traditions of Turkish cuisine.
