“He Made My Day,” IndiGo Employee Wins Praise For Helping Passenger Despite Being Deaf & Mute

An IndiGo employee at Indira Gandhi International Airport is winning praise online after his video went viral. Shared by a passenger, the video shows the IndiGo employee, Afjal, guiding the passenger through the baggage check-in process despite being deaf and mute.

There is something about positive and heartwarming news that instantly lifts our spirits. That’s what happened when a passenger and digital creator, Aman Singh (@amansingh1.o), shared a video of an IndiGo employee at Delhi’s IGI Airport. The video shows Afjal wearing a badge that reads, “I cannot hear or speak. But I will be happy to assist.”

Aman says that despite being deaf and mute, Afjal did an amazing job of guiding him through the baggage check-in process. Aman also added that he found it very easy to communicate with Afjal. The employee can be seen helping warmly and smiling throughout the process in the viral clip.

The caption under the video reads, “Aaj motivation kisi millionaire se nahi mili,  Ek aise insaan se mili jinhone mujhe dikhaya ki communication sirf words se nahi hoti. (Today I didn’t get motivation from a millionaire. I got it from someone who showed me that communication does not happen only through words). Unhone mujhse usse bhi better coordinate kiya jitna kai log bol aur sun sakte hue bhi nahi kar paate.” (He coordinated with me even better than people who can hear and speak. Aman ended the post by writing, “He truly made my day.”

Netizens Praise Afjal & IndiGo

The video ends with Aman receiving his boarding pass from Afjal and thanking him for his service. The clip not only went viral but also received praise from thousands of netizens for both Afjal and IndiGo.

One user recalled a similar experience with Afjal and wrote, “Last month he helped me check in an extra 6-7 kgs of luggage since I didn’t want to carry it in my hand luggage. He is helpful and very kind.” Another user commented,  “Best video on the internet.” A third person praised IndiGo and wrote, “Thanks to IndiGo for giving all people a chance to show their skills.” Many of Afjal’s family members also found the video and thanked Aman for showing Afjal’s kindness to the world.
