Russia declared war on Ukraine after Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that outside interferences in the war between the two countries would meet with consequences greater than history. Russia and Ukraine were often frequented by tourists for the gorgeous landscapes, breathtaking architecture and rich culture of the two nations. Tourism To Takes A Hit As Russia-Ukraine Air Space Shut & Flights Cancelled
On February 24, the Ukraine central military command reported that Russia had bombed several airports in the country including the ones in Kyiv Boryspil, Nikolaev, Kramatorsk, Kherson. Earlier, a conflict zone monitor urged airlines to stop flying over any part of Ukraine due to a risk of getting shot down amid the tensions with Russia. Over 10 airlines stopped flying there after the United States warnings of an attack by Russian forces surrounded Ukraine’s borders. Countries like India, Germany, Canada, France, the USA, Britain and more suspended their flights to Ukraine as a precautionary measure. Russia also closed some of its airspaces to offer safety to civil aviation flights, while Ukraine shut down for air traffic. With flights cancelled, air space shut down in the two countries, tourism has come to a halt due to the conflict.

Turkey’s Tourism To Get Affected Due To Russia-Ukraine Conflict
The Russia-Ukraine conflict will probably lead to a detrimental effect on Turkey’s tourism sector. This is because Turkey generates most of its tourism revenue through the two countries. In 2021, Turkey witnessed 24.7 million foreign tourists, out of this 2.06 million were from Ukraine and 4.7 million were travellers from Russia. Turkey has hosted 20 million tourists from Russia and Ukraine in the past three years and looked forward to hosting more tourists in 2022. Alas, the dreaded Russian invasion of Ukraine, may create a dent in Turkey’s tourism sector.

Air India Repatriates Indians To Delhi As Ukraine Closes Airspace
On February 15, India issued a travel advisory for Indian citizens in Ukraine, urging them to leave the country temporarily. The travel advisory was mainly intended for students whose stay isn’t necessary. With the tension escalating between Russia and Ukraine, an Air India flight brought back 240 Indian passengers to Delhi. Thousands of Indians continue to contact the embassy in Ukraine, waiting for their safe return home as Russia invades Ukraine. While there are more stranded Indian citizens in Ukraine, the airspace has shut down. Bringing a looming uncertainty.
