Here’s How To Use Smart Gates At Dubai Airport For Easier Travel

You may have already reserved your vacation plans for the upcoming Eid and school summer breaks. However, if you want to escape the holiday crowds, you may use the Smart Gates at Dubai Airport’s Terminal 3, which enable travellers to walk through passport check quickly. Here’s a rundown of who and how to utilise the smart gates.

What Are Smart Gates At Dubai Airport?

To speed up the passport check process, a new technology called Smart Gates eliminates the need for physical touch. Near the airport’s arrival and departure terminals, the gates are build at Dubai International Airport Terminal 3.

There will be no need for travellers to get a departure stamp on their passports, according to a new biometric identification system implemented by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA). Passengers may complete passport check processes without needing human assistance thanks to the gates’ usage of face and iris recognition technology.

What is the proper way to utilise smart Gates?

The procedure for using the Smart Gate is relatively easy to understand:

  • To begin, you must take off everything that covers your face, including masks, glasses, and hats. Additionally, your boarding card and passport should be in your possession, just in case.
  • If you are a tourist, we need to scan your Emirates ID or biometric passport.
  • In the next step, you will need to validate your biometrics by looking straight at the green light on top of the camera.
  • The Smart Gates will open after your biometrics is validated, at which point the passport control procedure will finish.

Who Can Use These Smart Gates?

To utilise the Smart Gates, you must fall into one of the following categories:

  • Nationals of the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
  • Residents of the United Arab Emirates
  • Citizens of countries eligible for visa-on-arrival
