Flying is fun- however, one thing we all regret the most is spending a lot of money at the airports. While shopping is okay, the amount we spend on food at times is ridiculous, and it burns a big hole in our pockets. A cup of coffee can easily cost Rs.300-600, while a sandwich can cost Rs.400-500. And since we are in a vacay mood, we don’t mind spending on food at the airports. However, what if we tell you that you can get free food at the airport. Wondering how? Well, here’s how.

Your Guide To Getting Free Food At The Airport

1. Use Airport Lounge

When it comes to airports, every airport has a lounge where you can eat, chill and relax if you have a connecting flight or have reached early. And guess what? Everyone can use a lounge for free. All our debit and credit cards have a lounge access facility. For debit cards, if you have platinum and above debit cards, you can get access to the lounge for free. The authorities will swipe your card for Rs.2-3 to ensure that it’s your card and then let you in. For credit cards, Mastercard, Diners Club, Amex, and some visa cards have the facility. Depending on the type of card you have, you can use the lounge across all the airports in the world.

2. Free Meal When The Flight Is Delayed

Flight delays are common, and they happen either due to technical reasons, air traffic, weather conditions, or mechanical issues. And at times, flights are delayed for 3-5 hours straight. And once that happens, you tend to buy food and refreshments at the airport, which again cost a bomb. But after reading this, you’ll save your money. How do you ask? Well, if your flight is delayed by more than 2 hours, then you are entitled to get a meal and refreshments free of cost. If your connecting flight is delayed by more than 3-4 hours, you again are entitled to free meals. All you have to do is- Visit the airline counter, show the ticket and inform the flight is delayed. Once you do that, you ask for free meals as laid down in the Passenger Charter. Then take a free meal voucher and enjoy the meal.
