Here’s How Your Marriage Certificate Can Make Your Travel Easier

To all those people who are married or will be married soon, let me ask you a simple question. Why is a marriage certificate important? Many of you might already have this question on your mind. Well, it is not only to remind you of your wedding anniversaries but also to help you travel. Yes, you read that right. Your marriage certificate can make your travel easier. Baffled? Here’s how!

Marriage Certificate Helps You Travel

The marriage certificate serves as an official declaration that two people have become husband and wife. Marriages in India are registered under the Hindu Marriage Act of 1955. The Special Marriage Act of 1954 is applicable for inter-caste or inter-religion marriages. The Supreme Court declared marriage registration mandatory in 2006 to safeguard women’s rights.

A crucial document when applying for a passport or opening a bank account after getting married is the marriage certificate. A copy of the marriage certificate is frequently required by embassies when people apply for visas or travel abroad. This is why couples must have a marriage certificate if they wish to relocate to a foreign country after their marriage.
