Here’s What You Need To Know About The Earth Hour Event Happening At The Expo City In Dubai

Earth Hour is an event organised globally by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which aims to unite people for taking action on environmental issues and thereby protecting the planet. The community event started off with a light-out event in Sydney, Australia in 2007, and today it has become a massive global phenomenon. This aims at raising awareness among people to protect the Earth. This year also, the Emirates nature-WWF is doing something special on Saturday, March 25 at Terra – the Sustainability Pavilion at Expo City Dubai. Here’s what’s happening at the event!

According to a news report by Khaleej Times, there is an event happening at Terra – the Sustainability Pavilion at Expo City, Dubai, which will host COP28 during the latter part of the year. In fact, the public is also invited to the free Big Earth Switch Off and a screening event that’s taking place on Saturday, March 25. As you all are already aware, this is a campaign organised by the World Wildlife Fund, which is basically about switching off the lights for an hour. It unites more than 190 countries for this environmental cause that aims at protecting our planet earth. In fact, ever since, the global spotlight has started to shine on the issues of nature loss and climate change, iconic landmarks across the world have started to take the initiative to raise awareness for this global cause.

The Burj Khalifa and Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in the UAE have also joined other landmarks across the world like the Eiffel Tower, the London Eye, and the Colosseum in switching off their lights.

Talking about the event, the Emirates-WWF will introduce a new educational mini-series. This series has been designed to encourage volunteering in the lead-up to the COP28 climate conference. In fact, the plan is to introduce the importance of Earth Hour followed by the switch off and the screening of a documentary by the natural historian, David Attenborough. Called ‘A Life On Our Planet,’ this documentary follows the unique history of humanity’s impact on nature. Doesn’t it all sound interesting? Well, the event begins at 8:15 pm, however, the switch is scheduled for 8:30 pm!

So, attend this event that has been devoted to our planet Earth!
