Appreciating the effort for their long commitment and pivotal roles in society, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum recently granted golden residency to religious figures. Not to mention, this initiative shows the Crown Prince’s commitment towards honouring people who have tirelessly propagated the messages of tolerance and compassion, which is inherent in Islam. Not to mention, a report by Khaleej Times mentioned that as a part of the annual tradition, these people will also be receiving a financial reward on Eid al-Fitr.

It’s worth noting that this development comes after the Crown Prince earlier ordered an increase in the salaries of imams and muezzins in Dubai in the month of March. As such, the hike applies to those serving in mosques that are operated under Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department. And if you happen to be someone who is still unaware, imams are religious leaders who guide the faithful towards living by the principles of Islam while muezzins are officials who proclaim the call to prayer.

At this point, it’s worth revealing that the initiative is an indication of the appreciation from the president towards the imams of mosques and muezzins, who have constantly upheld a conducive environment for worship and serenity.
