Another day, another attempt at smuggling money! The CISF personnel caught an Indian passenger attempting to fly to Bangkok from the Indira Gandhi International Airport who allegedly tried to smuggle a huge amount of foreign currency by concealing a stack of notes in the handle of his trolley bag. Bangkok-bound Indian Passenger Stopped At New Delhi Airport For Trying To Smuggle About ₹64 Lakh

The CISF shared the video of taking them out foreign currency notes concealed inside the handle of the trolley bag. It was worth approximately ₹64 lakhs. They took to the official Twitter handle to share the video. You can check out the incident here.

CISF personnel caught the passenger at the Terminal III of the Delhi airport. While doing security checks of the bags and luggage on the X-ray scanner, the personnel noticed the foreign currency notes stacked inside the handle of the trolley bag. But his plans did not go accordingly and the personnel caught him red-handed at the Delhi airport. Later, he was sent to customs for committing the crime so that they can proceed with investigating the case. A senior official shared that the male passenger had plans to fly to Bangkok travelling with an airline in Thailand.

How Much Did The Personnel Recover From Being Getting Smuggled?

The CISF personnel were being successful in stopping the smuggling of a huge amount from Delhi to Bangkok. They found tons of foreign currency notes which are worth about ₹64 lakhs in Indian rupees. They used screwdrivers as shown in the video to take out the notes from the handle of the passenger’s trolley bag. And they found Euro 68,400 and 5,000 New Zealand dollars inside the handle.

Such attempts at smuggling money and more items are getting very common these days. Recently, a male passenger was smuggling US $40,000 (₹32,78,000) concealed inside paan masala sachets. He was flying from Kolkata airport to Bangkok. The Kolkata customs officials arrested the man later.
