Himachal Pradesh: Incessant Rainfall Leads To Flash Floods & Landslides In Mandi District

Heavy rainfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh is wreaking havoc and making people’s lives miserable. It started raining heavily from Friday and the aftermath looks scary. From flash floods to landslides, several places are facing severe harsh situations. Mandi district has been affected badly because of the frightening monsoon fury. Here are the recent updates about the scenario in this district.

Mandi District Suffered Tremendous Damages!!!

Nikhil saini (@iNikhilsaini) took to the social media platform ‘X’ to share glimpses of a tragic accident of a bus in Kanghu.

This place in Himachal Pradesh witnessed 90mm of rainfall on Friday night, as shared by the MeT Department. It began pouring in the morning leading to landslides and blocking roads and pathways. The massive downpour triggered multiple landslides creating extreme issues for commuters. The destruction of the recent natural calamities is intense. The highway connecting Mandi and Manali is at a halt due to the landslides, according to a report by Hindustan Times. The light motor vehicles managed to take other routes to reach their destination. Unfortunately, commuters in heavy motor vehicles have no option rather than being stuck in between Pandora and Mandi.

Not just landslides, in fact, tremendous water logging has blocked vehicular movement as well. Many places in and around Mandi district are suffering from waterlogging.

Flash Floods Reported In Many Areas

On social media platform ‘X’, Weatherman Shubham (@shubhamtorres09) shared glimpses of incessant rainfall in parts of Himachal Pradesh.

Heavy rainfall since Friday led to flash floods in several areas of Mandi district. The Bath Valley faced a situation like this due to downpours. Farmers are dealing with a tough time because of the impact on crops. Many properties, stretches, and roads faced damage in the past some time. The deputy commissioner of Mandi stated that there have been no reports of casualties.

Right now, an orange alert has been issued in this part of Himachal Pradesh. The orange alert is till 13 August. IMD also issued a yellow alert from 14 August and there are chances of rainfall till 16 August.

It is a difficult time for the locals as Himachal Pradesh is facing similar scary situations for a few months now. Such extreme weather conditions are creating a major negative on the travel and tourism industry here. Stay inside your houses and avoid going near the affected places.
