According to The Indian Express, the FASTag entry system will be implemented at six locations–Garamaura in Bilaspur, Parwanoo (Main), Tipra Bypass (Parwanoo) in Solan district, Govindghat in Sirmaur district, Kandwal in Kangra, Mehatpur in Una district, and Baddi in Solan district.
The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to auction-cum-tender all entry tax barriers for the financial year 2025-26. As per reports, they are expecting a 7.5% increase in entry tax revenue, as compared to the financial year 2024-25. The successful toll lessees for the selected toll units must complete all formalities related to FASTag-based entry tax system implementation within 45 days. If they fail to do so, their lease will be cancelled.
All You Need To Know About This New Entry Tax System
The aim of Himachal Pradesh’s new FASTag entry tax is to enhance travel convenience and improve entry tax collection. While talking to The Indian Express, a Himachal Pradesh government spokesperson added that the toll lessees must submit an undertaking confirming the implementation of the FASTag-based entry tax system at their own expense. They will have to issue receipts to commuters making to-and-fro trips within 24 hours. Also, they are strictly prohibited from charging any amount beyond the approved toll rates.
It is to be noted that all Himachal Pradesh-registered vehicles, excluding heavy commercial vehicles, are exempted from entry tax. The new FASTag system will have a provision to ensure that no deductions are made for exempted vehicles.
