After spending six months on the International Space Station, Sultan Al Neyadi landed back on Earth on September 4. And now, he is all set to make his return to the UAE. Yes, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre recently took to its official account on X (formerly Twitter) to announce that this Emirati astronaut is all set to return on September 18, which is Monday, after the completion of the longest Arab space mission in history. It is expected that he will get a hero‘s welcome in the UAE and celebrations might be organised in his honour! It should be noted at this point that Dr Sultan Al Neyadi followed his colleague Hazza Al Mansouri, who was the first Emirati to go into space back in the year 2019. Major Al Mansoori returned to the UAE after a space mission of eight days at the International Space Station.

The entire nation has been closely following the space mission undertaken by Sultan Al Neyadi, as he created history with many firsts. During his stint at the orbiting laboratory, he conducted more than 200 scientific experiments and also became the first Arab to spacewalk. It was earlier divulged in an interview with The National by the Director General of Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, Salem Al Marri, that preparations were underway for roadshows, a meeting with the leaders, and celebrations. All these developments come after Dr Al Neyadigave his first public address after his return on Tuesday, September 12. During his interview, he mentioned how gravity felt really heavy at first and he was then amazed how quickly his body started to adjust by the hours.
So, stay tuned to the space for all the latest developments related to the homecoming of this Emirati astronaut.
