The Giant Buddha is a little away from the main island and Kowloon. It is known to be one of the largest Buddha statues of the world.
The Ngong Ping 360 cable car is the fastest way to reach up to the Tian Tan Big Buddha. Enjoy a ride through the longest bi-cable ropeway in Asia, from 400 m above sea level! This 5.7km long ride offers a breathtaking view of the airport, flora & fauna of Lantau Island. On this ride, it would take you around 25 minutes to get to the Big Buddha.
You can even hop onto the crystal cabin which acts as a glass floor. Watch the mountains, green lands and the blue waters pass underneath you on the crystal cabin. You might be scared to step onto the glass cabin, but its sure as hell exciting!
You can spot the Big Buddha statue from miles away owing to its size. Climb 268 steps to get closer to the bronze Tian Tan Buddha statue. With a height of 34 meters, this majestic statue took about 12 years to be built. It draws pilgrims from all over Asia and attracts 1 million visitors a year.
