The hospitality firm on Tuesday announced its vision to completely eliminate single-use plastic by 2030 across all its hotels. Sustainable and socially responsible goals have been outlined by the company for 2030. It is indeed a great move.
100% Hotels Will Be EarthCheck Certified
Puneet Chhatwal, IHCL’s MD and CEO while launching the Paathya initiative, has outlined its commitment where wastewater will be reused or recycled 100 per cent, and 50 per cent of electricity will come from renewable sources. With onsite organic waste management, by 2030, single-use plastic will be eliminated from all its hotels. Adding to these plans, they have visioned 100% of their hotels to be EarthCheck certified.

Let’s Go Eco-FriendlyThe company plans to install EV charging stations in 50 per cent of its hotel parking lots, and all business meetings and conferences will be paperless and use eco-friendly techniques and recycled materials.
Commitment To Skill 1 Lakh Youths
The company’s goal is to train 100,000 youth with relevant skill sets that will enable them to sustain their livelihoods over the next five years.IHCL is also looking at every action with gender progressiveness in mind. The percentage of women on the boards of their subsidiaries and associates will be 25 per cent.
Initiatives That Believe In Preserving Heritage
Chhatwal stated that hospitality goals cannot be met until they keep incredible India shining. They intend to employ at least one preservation program in every hotel they operate. They plan to adopt 100 per cent of UNESCO’s cultural heritage projects wherever they operate. Any company that wishes to be future-ready must embrace sustainability in its entire operation is what the company believes.
