India’s third Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will soon launch between Howrah and Digha, expanding the country’s fast intercity train network. Following the success of the Ahmedabad–Bhuj and Jaynagar–Patna routes, this service promises a comfortable and time-efficient option for travellers to Digha in West Bengal. Formerly called the Vande Metro, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail aims to provide a modern, world-class experience for short-distance routes. Focused on speed, efficiency, and comfort, it supports Indian Railways’ goal to improve intercity mobility nationwide.

Fastest Rail Connectivity On The Howrah–Digha Route

Previously called the Vande Metro, the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail aims to deliver a modern, world-class travel experience for short-distance routes. With a focus on speed, efficiency, and passenger comfort, it reflects Indian Railways’ broader plan to improve intercity mobility across the country.

According to Economic Times Now, the Howrah to Digha Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will cover 186 km in less than 3 hours. The train will depart from Howrah at 7:00 am, reaching Digha by 9:45 am. The return trip will leave Digha at 5:00 pm and arrive in Howrah by 7:45 pm. This schedule is tailored to accommodate both daily commuters and weekend travellers heading to the coast.

Air-Conditioned Unreserved Coaches With Enhanced Comfort

The train will feature 16 fully air-conditioned coaches, ensuring a comfortable travel experience. All coaches will be unreserved, offering convenience for passengers while maintaining cleanliness and a smooth ride. The design focuses on fast boarding and deboarding, making it well-suited for frequent travel, especially for daily commuters and short-distance passengers across busy regional routes.

Affordable Fares And Key Halts En Route

Fares for the Howrah to Digha Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will range from ₹400 to ₹450, Economic Times Now reported. It will be an affordable and practical option for most passengers, including tourists and daily travellers. The train will stop at key stations along the route, ensuring convenient access to major towns and transit points, while still keeping the overall travel time to a minimum. This balance between affordability, speed, and accessibility makes the service a promising addition to the region’s rail network.
