Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail announced a significant expansion with 13 new stations to be built on the first phase of the Shamshabad Airport Metro Line. Hyderabad Airport Metro Rail Director NVS Reddy and his team inspected a 14-kilometre stretch from Nagole to Chandrayangutta on foot. This was done to determine the route and possible station spots for the Hyderabad airport metro.

The inspection brought to light several hindrances on the route and NVS Reddy provided crucial suggestions to tackle them. The officials have emphasised the need for careful planning of land acquisition on this stretch as there are several flyovers between Nagole and Chandrayangutta.

According to the latest development, they have decided to build 13 stations on the 14-kilometre stretch from Nagole to Chandrayangutta. They have also decided to build the new Nagole Airport Metro station close to the old one. The stations will be connected by a skywalk.

They will also shift the alignment near Musi to avoid utility interference. For this, they have decided to add a station after crossing Musi. It will help improve connectivity to the Kothapet junction. The officials have also decided to adjust the height of the Airport Metro line at the Bairamalguda/Sagar Road junction because of existing flyovers as well.
