According to an IANS report, a man from Hyderabad singlehandedly ordered ₹7.3 lakh worth of idlis on Swiggy from March 2023 to March 2024. The food delivery giant revealed interesting deets about the special place idli has in the hearts of desis. On the food delivery platform, the peak time for placing idli orders is from 8 am to 10 am. Consumers from cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Coimbatore and Hyderabad prefer relishing this delicacy during dinner time.

So, what makes idlis so alluring for Indians? Well, as per Swiggy the versatility and simplicity of the dish is the reason why it’s one of the most preferred breakfast options across India and the world. It comes in various variants like rava idli, plain idli, thatte idli, khotto and much more. While regions like Bengaluru have a soft corner for the rava idli, regions like Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh savour idlis with spicy neyi karam podi with fresh ghee.
