ICC World Cup 2023: Fans To Get Free Cold Drinks And Popcorn At Wankhede Stadium

Nothing can match the feeling of watching a cricket match in the stadium while cheering for your favorite team. Along with good company and an interesting edge of the seat match, what adds to this fun is popcorn and cold drinks, isn’t it? But the rates at the stadium are quite high, making people skip it. Well, to make the ICC World Cup 2023 matches at Wankhede more exciting, here’s something special.

Every fan attending a World Cup game at Wankhede Stadium will receive free popcorn and a cold beverage from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). Following Tuesday’s World Cup league match between South Africa and Bangladesh at Wankhede Stadium, MCA president Amol Kale made the choice.

India and Sri Lanka will play in Mumbai on November 2, then Australia will play Afghanistan, and the semifinals will take place on November 15. Fans must present their tickets at the counter to get them stamped, and they will then receive free popcorn and a cold beverage.

President of the Mumbai Cricket Association, Amol Kale, said that he had proposed that fans should be provided with a free one-time cold drink and popcorn. This is for the fans who turn up at the Wankhede Stadium to witness the World Cup matches. This offer will be for the non-hospitality area he mentioned. (As per The Indian Express)

Until The Semi-Finals

Each fan will get a one-time free popcorn and cold drink (coke) after they enter the stadium and their tickets get stamped. The cost of this will be borne by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA). This offer will begin with the India vs Sri Lanka match on November 2 and will be continued until the semi-finals.

Amol mentioned that the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has given its approval for this proposal.

Meanwhile, another news update from Kale mentioned the unveiling of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s statue. He informed that Mumbai Cricket Association will be unveiling this statue at the Wankhede stadium on November 1, ahead of the India vs Sri Lanka match.

This statue is to honour Sachin Tendulkar and his achievements in the field of cricket. This life size statue of the “God of Cricket” is made by a well-known artist from Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar. (As per The Indian Express)

MCA took this decision earlier this year and will finally unveil the statue in November. In March 2023, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar visited the stadium and the spot where his statue will be placed soon.

He mentioned that the committee guided him here and in the area outside the MCA lounge. A roundabout will be created, and the statue will soon come up, he said. The background of the statue will be the stadium where all the action happened (the ground). The spot is simply perfect, as fans can easily come in and get pictures clicked with it, and at the same time, it is completely accessible. (As per The Indian Express)
