The Indian Meteorological Department or IMD has recently made some weather predictions for different regions in India. The IMD said that many parts of the country will witness rainfall and thunderstorms. This rainfall and storm will be a much-needed relief from the annoying heatwave. As per the officials from the IMD, the weather will be quite favourable ahead of the polling season. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about the weather update.

According to an article which was recently published by Republic TV, the Indian state of Uttarakhand experienced a lightning storm on Sunday, May 12. Other parts of the country are slated to experience a major shift on May 12, 13 and 14.

The speed of the winds during the storm in Uttarakhand was estimated to be around 40 to 50 kilometres per hour. The heatwave which has significantly affected the central and eastern parts of the country will be eased.

A mix of moderate and light rain is predicted in regions like Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana. What is more, it is also expected that the rain will be accompanied by strong gusts of wind. Caution is therefore advised to all.

Other Weather Predictions For Parts Of Maharashtra

It is also being said that regions on the western coast will experience hailstorms. More specifically, regions like Vidarbha, Marathwada, Chhattisgarh, Central Maharashtra and some parts of Madhya Pradesh as well as Gujarat will witness hailstorms.

The prediction for the hailstorm was for May 12 and 13. In the last 24 hours, many isolated parts of the country have reported hailstorms. Recently, the country has witnessed heatwaves. The temperatures were as high as 43° Celsius.

The shift in the weather will no doubt provide relief from the sweltering heat. Despite the heat, Mumbai, too has been witnessing strong winds and cloudy weather. It was also said that the city would receive rain soon.
