The successful completion of the first trial run from Sangaldan to Reasi, including the crossing of the Chenab Bridge, was announced by Vaishnaw. It was highlighted that all construction works under the USBRL Project are nearing completion, with only tunnel No.1 remaining partially incomplete.

The Chenab Bridge itself stands as a marvel of engineering. It soars 359 metres above the Chenab River, surpassing the height of the Eiffel Tower by approximately 35 metres. This structural feat is a testament to India’s growing prowess in infrastructure development, particularly in challenging terrains like Jammu and Kashmir.

The USBRL Project holds strategic significance as it nears its final stages. It is poised to integrate the Kashmir Valley seamlessly into India’s extensive railway network. This connection promises to enhance connectivity, boost economic activities, and foster tourism in the region. Earlier achievements under the Ministry of Railways include the recent entry into the “Limca Book of Records.” This further underscores India’s commitment to expanding and modernising its railway infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has been instrumental in pushing forward transformative projects like the USBRL and the upcoming Vande Bharat sleeper trains. These sleeper trains, set to debut within two months, are designed to elevate passenger comfort and safety standards, featuring high-grade materials and crashworthy elements.

Vaishnaw emphasised the meticulous design of the Vande Bharat sleeper trains. They combine aesthetic appeal with functionality across their interiors and exteriors. These trains are capable of speeds up to 200 km/h. They aim to redefine premium long-distance travel in India, setting a new benchmark in railway technology.
