India took the decision to suspend new visas for Canadian citizens almost a month back due to some political tension and unrest between India and Canada. After some time of the suspension, India has decided to lift the suspension and resume the visa services only in some categories. India Is Resuming Visa Services In Some Categories For Canadians
This crucial decision is coming into action starting October 26. Only some categories are seeing developments when it comes to the resumption of visa services. These few categories are:
- Entry Visa
- Business Visa
- Conference Visa
- Medical Visa
The visa applications of Canadian citizens in the mentioned categories (Entry Visa, Business Visa, Conference Visa, and Medical Visa) will now also be accepted at Indian missions in different nations, as shared by officials, according to a report by The Hindu.

The Indian High Commission in Canada posted how the decision to resume visa services of Canadian citizens for some categories is coming into effect only ‘after a considered review of the security situation that takes into account some recent Canadian measures in this regard’, as shared in the press release.
The Indian High Commission in Canada also mentioned how all the ‘Emergency situations will continue to be addressed by the High Commission and the Consulates General’ like the current process. Further decisions in this regard will be taken on the basis of continuing the evaluation process of the situation.

The Indian High Commission in Canada took the decision of the resumption of visa services only in some categories. It means that it is now accepting visa applications for entering the country only for approved purposes such as business, conferences, and medical reasons.
