Indians Loved Visiting Visa-Free Countries This Summer
Scapia, a travel fintech, has revealed some interesting data about travel trends for Indians this summer season. They have found a notable rise in travel bookings this summer season. According to the data, Scapia has noted average monthly domestic and international bookings increasing by over 30% from February to May 2024, as compared to January 2024.
One of the most interesting findings in the data was that there has been a 65% increase in average monthly flight bookings to visa-free countries from India. Factors like spur-of-the-moment plans and the desire for hassle-free travel are some of the biggest reasons for this trend. This has resulted in many Indians visiting destinations like Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Kenya this season. However, Asian favourites like Thailand, Malaysia, and Hong Kong still top the list of visa-free destinations for Indians.
Top Destinations Visited By Indians This Summer
Scapia also revealed another popular travel trend this summer – solo travel. In fact, as per their data, there was a massive 47% and 39% increase in women and men solo travellers, respectively, in India this summer season. Southeast Asia remained a popular choice amongst solo travellers as Thailand and Malaysia experienced a notable 4X increase in popularity. Another notable popular destination was Nepal this summer. As per Scapia’s data, there was a 3X increase in bookings to this country from India.
While Southeast Asian countries were a hit amongst Indians, popular destinations like Paris, London, and San Francisco were also some of the top choices. On the domestic front, people loved visiting Goa, Varanasi, Srinagar, Port Blair, and Leh over the summer.
