“Home Is A Reflection Of Who You Are,” Devyani Jaipuria On Building Her Home In Delhi

Devyani Jaipuria

In the latest episode of Stories From Bharat, Devyani Jaipuria, daughter of Ravi Jaipuria, opens the gates to a home that feels as much like a real estate as a carefully built world. The Delhi farmhouse rises with tall and commanding pillars that instantly evoke an old-world estate. The palette is restrained with whites, creams and muted undertones, but it never feels empty. It feels classic, and almost dove-like in its softness.

What Makes Devyani Jaipuria’s Delhi Farmhouse A Standout Luxury Estate?

Kamiya Jani, our editor-in-chief, taking in the façade, calls out its colonial charm. Devyani doesn’t hesitate and shares that Europe has always drawn her in with the museums, the architecture and the romance of art that has aged with dignity. She travels there often, she says, and pieces of those journeys have quietly travelled back with her.

Five people live here: Devyani, her husband, her mother-in-law, and their two children, a daughter and a son. Looking at the sheer expanse of the property, Kamiya laughs, “Yahan pe Google Maps use karna padta hai.” Devyani laughs with her, and the joke lands because it doesn’t feel exaggerated and well, the proof is right in front of you. The grounds are vast enough that, as Kamiya teases, 10,000 daily steps are probably completed without ever leaving home. Devyani mentions that with Delhi’s current pleasant weather, the estate doubles as a walking trail too.

The entertainment room is where her personality becomes unmistakable. Here shelves hold figurines and vintage art collected over years of travel. European influences surface again with their sculptural accents, classical touches and curated nostalgia. “Home is a reflection of you,” she says, and in that moment, it stops sounding like a decorative cliché. She has been collecting art for years, not as an investor, but as someone genuinely moved by objects with history. A piano sits prominently in the room. She mentioned that she used to play, but now her daughter does, and beautifully so!

Outside, the lawn stretches into a world of its own. This is her son’s territory, as cricket matches unfold here, and yeah, so do experiments in organic farming and gardening. It isn’t ornamental greenery; it’s a lived-in space. A tennis court stands to one side, there’s a swimming pool, and a spa. When the children’s friends visit, the estate transforms into something close to a private retreat.

What’s Her Favourite Corner In The House?

Her study is different; it is quieter and almost like her own little refuge. She calls it her space, the place where she reads, writes, watches Netflix and thinks. Kamiya jokingly suggests this must also be where top-tier business decisions are made. Devyani smiles, and the room doesn’t deny it.

Then there’s the open seating area, designed for evenings and unhurried mornings. The family gathers there to sit outdoors, sometimes for reflection and sometimes just for tea.

Faith is not tucked away in this home; it is integrated into its architecture as well. A regal mandir occupies a dedicated space. Outside, Shivling catches Kamiya’s eye too. Devyani speaks about her belief in Lord Shiva, saying that she feels his presence everywhere. She makes it a point to visit Ujjain at least once every year, and on her wrist, a Shiva tattoo marks that devotion permanently. At the entrance hangs a Tanjore artwork of Vishnuji. On another wall, a Rajasthani Pichwai painting anchors the house in heritage. The spiritual and the aesthetic coexist without competing, and that’s a beautiful juxtaposition.

What makes the farmhouse compelling isn’t just its scale, though the scale is undeniable. It’s the layering with European influences alongside Indian devotional art, a piano next to vintage collectables, and cricket lawns resting near manicured hedges. The house reveals a woman who knows what she likes and took two years to ensure her home reflected exactly that.
