There’s a certain iconic madness that happens when legacy and next-gen land at the same table, and the latest Sunday Brunch episode with Kamiya Jani, our editor-in-chief, was a testimony to that. The iconic star Javed Jaaferi and his son, Meezaan Jafri, were the latest guests on the episode, and the jokes were effortless, the Monaco Chicken Sandwich was drool-worthy and the vibe felt more like watching a father and son forget the cameras exist.

Meezaan Jafri On Sharing The Frame With Dad Javed Jaaferi

But buried under the humour was a story Meezaan didn’t sugarcoat: this was the first time he had ever shared a frame with his father, and he was, in his words, very scared and nervous. Not nervous in the polite sense, but genuinely overwhelmed!

He talked about walking onto set and instantly realising something he hadn’t mentally prepared for: everyone, from the lighting crew to assistants fixing collars, was low-key (and high-key) fanboying over Javed Jaaferi. It’s almost like we can imagine them whispering jokes from Boogie Woogie or humming his iconic mimic lines.

Meanwhile, Meezaan stood quietly in one corner, not sulking, just calculating, trying to mentally hype himself for the song he had to perform. The pressure wasn’t coming from competition; it was coming from being the son of someone who has effortless stage presence baked into his DNA.

Food, Fun And Folly!

And then there was his mother, the silent strategist in this story.

Before the shoot, she had given him a very real and almost hilarious pep talk: “Everyone will naturally be on your dad’s side. You still have to go and do your job.”

So when Meezaan narrated it on camera, he added with full comic timing, “Bas meri mom meri side pe thi.”

Without missing a beat, Javed responded, “Toh main nahi tha? The timing, the expression, and the delivery were peak Javed. The result? All of them dissolved into laughter.

What made this episode memorable wasn’t sentimentality; it was honesty. From a young actor admitting fear instead of projecting confidence to a father letting his son take the storytelling spotlight. And an audience watching legacy and vulnerability sit comfortably at the same table.

For Meezaan, this wasn’t just an appearance; it was a milestone. For viewers, it was a rare glimpse into a father-son dynamic that wasn’t curated, rehearsed, or polished. It was just real and unexpectedly delightful.
