Andhra Pradesh CM Naidu Calls For Tourism Push Across 175 Constituencies, Temple Towns Get Special Focus

Andhra Pradesh is aiming high on the tourism front, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu rolling out an expansive plan that blends homestays, marquee attractions, and global-standard infrastructure. The ambitious roadmap seeks to position Andhra Pradesh as a world-class destination while ensuring local communities directly benefit from tourism growth.

According to Deccan Chronicle, at a review meeting held at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on Wednesday, Naidu pressed officials to treat temple towns as the starting point. His idea is to set up homestays that live up to international expectations, so pilgrims and cultural tourists find comfort while locals gain a steady income. The CM also asked for a detailed strategy to bring in Non-Resident Indians, especially to the Konaseema region, famed for its backwaters and green landscapes.

A concrete deadline was laid out. By March 2026, the state should be ready with 10,000 additional rooms. CM Naidu also insisted that every one of the 175 constituencies shall undergo a tourism development project, underlining his intent to spread development rather than confine it to a few pockets.

His checklist of projects includes a Disney World-style entertainment city in Anantapur, a modern facelift for Kondapalli Khilla with private backing, a light-and-sound spectacle at Undavalli caves, eco-trails at Chintapalli, and wildlife crowd-pullers like an elephant safari in Kuppam and dolphin shows in Visakhapatnam.

The CM also wanted updates on the big-ticket destinations already under work, such as the Araku Valley, Lambasingi, and the ₹97 crore “beach experience” project at Suryalanka. Gandikota, Araku, and Lambasingi will also see “tent house cities.”

Connectivity is another piece of the puzzle. CM Naidu pitched heli-tourism and seaplane services linking Vijayawada-Srisailam, Gandikota-Bengaluru, and Visakhapatnam-Araku. The aim is to make travel itself an attraction, not just a necessity.

Festivals, too, are being woven into the state’s tourism story. Vijayawada’s Dasara celebrations, Naidu declared, should rival the scale and glamour of Mysuru’s. He also suggested marking World Tourism Day with a beach festival at Suryalanka.

Beyond attractions and events, Naidu is also looking at tourism as a platform for Andhra Pradesh’s cultural exports. Araku coffee, red sand toys, the grace of Kuchipudi dance, and the fine weaves of Mangalagiri, Dharmavaram, and Venkatagiri handlooms are all on his branding list, as stated by Deccan Chronicle.

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh and senior officials were present during the review, which set the stage for what could be one of the most sweeping tourism pushes the state has attempted in recent years.
