India is evolving rapidly; however, sanitation remains a cause of concern for our country. Garbage dumped by the roads that doesn’t move for weeks, dirty public toilets, open manholes–the list of issues is quite long. But did you know that to resolve this issue, the government launched an app called the Swachhata App? Scroll on to know all about it!
Garbage Troubles? Swachhata App To The Rescue!

If you’ve ever wished there was an easier way to report sanitation issues in your city, then let us introduce you to the Swachhata App. This government-backed app is a user-friendly tool that lets citizens report littering, garbage dumps, and other cleanliness concerns directly to authorities.
You can use the app to report complaints or grievances by uploading a photo of the issue. Complaints can be filed under nine categories here. Once submitted, the complaint is routed to the concerned Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), which can track and resolve it using their dedicated portal and the engineer’s app.
Citizens can also check the status of their complaints on the Swachhata App. A central website and dashboard allow stakeholders at the city, state, and national levels to monitor complaints and their resolutions. The app is available in English and six regional languages for the convenience of people.
How To File A Complaint On This App
Filing a complaint on the Swachhata App is quite easy. When you come across a spot that has a cleanliness-related issue in the city, you can simply take a picture through the application, choose a category and lodge a complaint. This will immediately reflect on the backend, which is monitored by the Municipal corporation’s designated officials in the area.
These complaints are then assigned by the nodal officers to the relevant field. They then go, resolve the complaint and take a picture as proof that the complaint is resolved. These pictures are then uploaded to the SBM Engineer app while marking the complaint as resolved.
Once the complaint is resolved, a photo proof and status update are sent to the citizen through the app, notifying them that the issue has been fixed. The citizen can then share feedback on how the municipal corporation handled the complaint.
So, if you’re unsatisfied with the sanitation around your area, then check out the Swachhata App right away!
