“It Wasn’t Clouds,” Mangalore Photographer Captures The Milky Way After Kepu Village Loses Power For 2 Days

Seeing the Milky Way in its full glory isn’t something everyone gets to experience. But what if we told you that it happened to Brijesh Naik, a photographer from Mangalore? He saw the beauty of the Milky Way just because he happened to look up at the sky one day. His village had been without power for two days due to heavy rain, and that blackout ended up creating the perfect conditions for this rare sighting.

Seeing the Milky Way isn’t always easy, but it is possible if in the right condition, weather and location. And that’s exactly what happened to photographer Brijesh Naik in Mangalore. He even took to Instagram to share the story with his followers.

He posted the video and said that his village in Kepu, Mangalore, had no electricity for two days because of heavy rain and strong winds. One evening, bored at home, he decided to step out, and noticed something unusual in the sky. He first thought it was clouds, but was surprised when he saw “stars shining through it”. Brijesh immediately grabbed his camera and clicked long-exposure photos, which made him realise it was, in fact, the Milky Way in all its glory. He ended the video by saying that the “universe lit up despite no power in the village”.

Breathtaking Long-Exposure Images

Honestly, the images Brijesh shared are absolutely breathtaking. Witnessing the beauty of the universe like that feels unreal. Just so you know, long-exposure setting can significantly enhance the visibility of the Milky Way. It helps reveal subtle details and colours often missed by the naked eye.

Many of his followers flooded the comments. One user said, “I liked the reel even before the photos arrived, because I knew it had to be good.. stunning capture ”. Another added, “Light pollution is the greatest enemy for astro photography. Your captures are really awesome, I wish I could take photos like this too”. Someone else also commented that the photographer was very lucky to witness such a rare sight in his village.

If you also want to experience something unreal like this, head to remote high-altitude locations like Ladakh, Spiti Valley, or the Rann of Kutch. These areas in India offer clear skies and dark conditions that are perfect for viewing the Milky Way.
