Bungee Rope Snaps In Rishikesh
Avoid Adventure Sports in India. Authorities Don’t Inspect. Operators Don’t Care.
Zero Safety Gear, Zero Standards. Just pure gamble with your life. One accident and they’ll blame “fate,” not their negligence. Stay away. pic.twitter.com/3ACSSEUG4z

Recently, a shocking incident in Rishikesh shook all adventure lovers in India. A 24-year-old man named Sonu Kumar from Gurugram fell nearly 180 feet after the bungee cord attached to him suddenly snapped. According to NewsX, he plunged onto a tin roof and suffered serious injuries. Sujal Thakral, an influencer, was a witness to this accident, and he quickly rushed to the spot to take Sonu to AIIMS-Rishikesh. The influencer also mentioned in his video that during the accident, no emergency or medical staff were present to help.
This bungee accident in Rishikesh exposed the alarming safety gaps at a private adventure park. Authorities quickly stepped in and have barred the site operator from running the business, and the local administration has launched an investigation to find out how such a major failure happened. The thrilling moment quickly turned into a nightmare for Sonu and his family.

Safety Standards Not Followed
The doctor treating the victim said that he had suffered from multiple injuries, including severe fractures in his chest and arm. This type of serious accident only happens when safety standards are not followed. The video of his tragic accident has been going viral all over the internet.
The District Magistrate of Tehri Garhwal has ordered a complete audit of all adventure sports centres in the area. Officials want to ensure that every operator follows strict guidelines, conducts timely equipment checks, and hires trained staff who can handle emergencies. This Rishikesh incident has made it clear that adventure activities need far stronger supervision and enforced safety checks.
Sonu’s family is suffering from both emotional and financial situations. Many health insurance policies in India do not cover activities labelled as “hazardous” or “adventure sports,” including bungee jumping, reported NewsX. Because of this exclusion, most of Sonu’s medical expenses—such as treatment, surgery, and long-term care may not get covered by insurance.
We hope for the victim’s speedy recovery and urge people to stay cautious and avoid unsafe, life-threatening adventure activities.
