This Temple Distributes Money As Prasad

Interestingly, this traditional temple in Tamil Nadu worships Lord Karuppasamy, who is believed to be the protector of villages and their gatekeeper. Devotees believe the coins are blessed by the deity and help remove financial troubles while bringing prosperity, blessings, and protection. According to devotees, cigars and alcohol are sometimes donated to this temple as offerings by devotees.

The rituals are performed according to local folk beliefs, which makes this temple quite different from many others in India. Here, devotees do not donate money during the ritual. Instead, they receive it as prasad, which is believed to be bestowed by Lord Karuppasamy himself. The ritual takes place during special festival celebrations and folk traditions in the village.

This temple also represents the tradition of giving back. It receives donations from devotees, but instead of only collecting the money, the temple distributes it back to visitors as prasad. Many devotees believe that the Lord Karuppasamy directly blesses them financially through this ritual.
