Cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma are known for their dreamy love story. But did you know they are both vegans, committed to a clean, plant-based diet? Surprisingly, as per a recent revelation, Indian celebrity chef Harsh Dixit once served “snake” to the couple on their anniversary, and they not only ate it but enjoyed it!

Celebrity chef Harsh Dixit has cooked for many Bollywood stars, including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Athiya Shetty, and more. Recently, he revealed to The Hollywood Reporter India details about Anushka and Virat’s anniversary dinner from December 2019.

It is well known that both Anushka and Virat follow a healthy lifestyle that excludes meat and dairy. For their anniversary, Chef Harsh Dixit prepared a traditional Vietnamese Pho, which is usually a flavourful broth made of meat or chicken and served with noodles and snakes. But how did he manage to serve “snake” to a vegan couple? You will be surprised to know!

A Vietnamese Pho With A Twist

Chef Harsh Dixit shared with The Hollywood Reporter India that the couple was eating gluten-free at the time. So instead of traditional noodles, he used rice noodles, which are gluten-free and intrinsic to Vietnamese Pho. And the snake? Instead of using any reptile, the chef used snake gourd! He apparently stuffed the vegetable with peanuts, coconut, tofu, and a hint of coriander, then smoked it to add flavour.

The dish was further complemented with water chestnuts, enoki mushrooms, and chillies, all perfectly simmered in lemongrass-ginger-coriander root broth. It was served with a side of chilli oil for added heat and spice. And yes, there were plenty of dim sums on the table too.

The celebrity chef told The Hollywood Reporter India that the idea was to have fun while staying within their dietary boundaries. And he succeeded! The Vegan Vietnamese Pho was surely a delicious dining experience for Anushka and Virat, who must have loved every bite!
