Namma Benne House in Mumbai is now closing! This might sound like a cruel joke, right? But that’s exactly what the team announced. But wait, it was just a prank! The much-loved South Indian eatery in the city almost shocked its fans by posting on Instagram that they were shutting down before revealing that they are moving into a bigger space. The restaurant announced the launch of its new cafe. And yes! We are so excited!

If you are a true Mumbaikar and someone who can’t live without South Indian Benne Dosa and Filter Kaapi, you probably know Namma Benne House (NBH) in Borivali West. The place opened a while ago but quickly became a favourite amongst Mumbaikars for serving authentic Bengalurean flavours. From Filter Kaapi and Benne Pudina Dosa to Thatte Idlis, the eatery has been dishing out comfort food at affordable prices.

Recently, though, they gave their patrons a shock by uploading a post that said, “WE ARE CLOSING!” But no, it was only a clever way to grab attention. What they really meant was that they are expanding so more food lovers can get a table and enjoy.

In their post, the team admitted that at times, their cafe looked “more like a Coldplay concert pre-sale” than a South Indian eatery. Lines of people waiting for their filter coffee would spill onto the footpaths, and the demand was way beyond their seating capacity. Many regulars even asked them to open a second branch, but instead, the team chose to expand their existing space.

Namma Benne House will now move into a much bigger space in Borivali West itself. They are now launching a new cafe. The team announced a special launch party called ‘Benne Beats,’ which celebrates “Coffee, Chords, and Culture.” The new space is all set to open on Saturday with a live performance by musicians Ravi Iyer and Ganesh Iyer, electrifying the launch. Visitors can also sip on free lemonade on the opening day.

The team has promised new dishes and drinks on the menu, along with a bunch of surprises they don’t want to “reveal right now.” We are definitely excited, are you?
