The former Indian cricketer, Sachin Tendulkar, recently took to his social media handle to give a glimpse of his love for trying new recipes. In the latest video, he tried making the famous and almost every sweet lover’s favourite, Ukadiche Modak. He also mentioned that this was the first time he was trying to make the sweet.
In the video, he took the rice flour dough in his hands and pressed it gently to make it round. Captioning the video, he mentioned that he did add ghee but forgot to record it. He then filled the dough with the coconut and jaggery filling and closed it properly, giving it the perfect shape of a modak. After making the Ukadiche Modak, he made his mother, Rajni Tendulkar, try it. Ending the video, he also enjoyed it himself and said, “It’s one of the best desserts you’ve ever had.”

What Is Ukadiche Modak?
If you’re a modak lover, then Ukadiche Modak would undoubtedly be your favourite. These soft steamed dumplings are made with rice flour dough on the outside and are super popular in Maharashtra. The name itself means “steamed dumpling” in Marathi. They are especially loved during Ganesh Chaturthi as they are offered to Lord Ganesha as Prasad. Honestly, they are my personal favourite too!
The filling of this dessert is made with freshly grated coconut and jaggery. Some people also add cardamom or dry fruits for extra flavour. One bite of this sweet treat and you’ll totally get why it has such a loyal fanbase.
