What Are Himayat Mangoes?
Actress Priyanka Chopra took to her social media story to share a video of her enjoying a bowl of delicious mangoes. The mangoes were neatly diced, but what made people curious was the variety. She was enjoying the South Indian variety, Himayat Mangoes, also known as Imam Pasand Mangoes in many regions.
These mangoes are loved for their rich taste and smooth texture. The moment you put them in your mouth, they instantly melt in. Compared to other mangoes, they have a distinct taste. The flavour is naturally sweet with light hints of coconut and lime. This taste itself makes us eager to try this variety.

Where Is This Mango From?
This Himayat mango is said to have originated in Tamil Nadu. Over time, it became popular in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. As per history, this variety was also liked by the Nawabs of Hyderabad, and later it started being grown in that region. However, the production of this mango is limited.
In Tamil Nadu, farmers grow Himayat mangoes in places like Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Kuttralam, Dharmapuri, and Krishnagiri. As it is grown in smaller quantities, it is often treated as a special or luxury mango variety. They usually measure between 25 to 33 centimetres in length and can weigh around 300 to 500 grams. Some grow even bigger, up to 800 grams.
Himayat mangoes usually cost between ₹200 and ₹350 per kg. Premium packaging or farm boxes with 4 to 5 kg can range from ₹1,000 to ₹1,500.
