Curly Tales also got a first look inside three of India’s most unique submarines, witnessed the tough life of the sailors, and more, here’s how it went!
Sandese Aate Hai: Honouring The Force That Protects The Nation’s Seas

Imagine living under the seas for months, away from your loved ones, in a cramped, heated space, sharing quarters with 18 others while the constant roar of machines becomes your only companion. Hard to imagine, isn’t it? For the Indian Navy’s submarine arm, this is everyday reality, and we got a glimpse of this challenging life as our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, experienced life inside a submarine firsthand while covering the first look at three of India’s most unique submarines.
She experienced the daily lives of sailors aboard INS Shishumar, INS Sindhuraj (where they even treated her to some delicious gulab jamuns!), and INS Vagsheer. Safe to say, life beneath the seas is anything but easy.
While there, Kamiya spoke with the sailors about the challenges of life at sea, experienced the cramped conditions aboard a submarine, learned how they manage months with just one toilet and no shower, and got a glimpse of the tense atmosphere they face during difficult operations.
Before heading there, Kamiya gathered handwritten letters from people of all ages across India written on JK Paper. Brimming with blessings and love, these letters touched the officers deeply and were received with immense appreciation.
