Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian Brings ‘Maa Ke Haath Ka Khana’ To Bandra With Ammakai

These days, many of us live far from home, and every now and then, we miss it—especially the warmth and flavour of home-cooked meals. To bring a taste of that comfort to Mumbai, Shilpa Shetty is launching Ammakai, an all-day South Indian restaurant in Bandra. Here’s what makes it special!

Shilpa Shetty Launches Ammakai In Mumbai

Bastian Hospitality, by Ranjit Bindra and Shilpa Shetty, will launch Ammakai, an all-day South Indian restaurant, in Bandra, Mumbai, on December 19, 2025. What makes the place special is its name—Ammakai means “Mom’s Hand,” ensuring warm, comforting meals. The restaurant will bring Mangalorean home-style cooking to the city, with dishes full of flavour, love, and homely feelings.

At Ammakai, you can indulge in the flavours of coastal Karnataka right here in Mumbai. The chefs bring recipes straight from Mangalore’s home kitchens, so every dish feels authentic and full of love. Expect the perfect mix of coconut, tamarind, and spices that make your taste buds dance. And for a twist, the restaurant even serves matcha alongside classic South Indian dishes—perfect for foodies who love trying something new!

Signature Dishes To Try

Don’t miss Ammakai’s must-try dishes! Give a shot to their Mutton Khara Boti for bold, spicy flavours, or savour the gentle, comforting Coastal Stew. And of course, the Ammakai Dosa is perfect to make your stomach full.

Talking about the Ammakai, Mr Ranjit Bindra, Founder and CEO of Bastian Hospitality, shares, “Ammakai reflects the kind of food and hospitality we have always believed in at Bastian Hospitality: comfort-led, honest, and rooted in familiar flavours. What sets Ammakai apart is its approach to South Indian cuisine, where the focus is on specific regional traditions rather than a broad, generic menu. The food is guided by home-style techniques, instinctive cooking, and flavours that come from lived experience. It’s a natural extension of how we build our restaurants, creating spaces that feel welcoming and food that people can return to time and again.”

Next time, when you’re craving an authentic South Indian flavour, Ammakai is your destination.
