When it comes to year-end travel, Indians get super excited, especially with all the Christmas and New Year vibes in the air. As everyone plans trips between these two festive occasions, interest in both domestic and international destinations for holiday travel is soaring, according to Ixigo. Here’s where travellers are going, scroll down to find out!

Mountain Vs Beach Getaway, What’s Trending?

According to Ixigo, bookings for mountain destinations have increased thanks to adventure enthusiasts who are keen to witness magical views. Flight searches to Srinagar have more than doubled in December compared to November. Dehradun and Jammu are also seeing strong interest, with 54% and 39% month-on-month growth. Not only this, but bus routes to North Indian hill stations are booming too. Mussoorie, Manali, and Dehradun have all recorded over 100% year-on-year growth in bus searches. Overall, mountain destinations are nearly five times more popular than beaches this season.

Not only mountains, but travellers are also looking for beach vacations. When it comes to choosing a beach getaway, Goa is always a top choice, with December flight searches up 67% and bus searches rising 30-35% year-on-year. Port Blair, Udaipur, and Jaipur are seeing steady growth in flight bookings, with month-on-month increases of 38%, 32%, and 24%, respectively. Bus travel to Vizag has also increased by 55-60% year-on-year, showing that coastal and city escapes still remain popular.

International Flight Bookings Rise In 2025

Ixigo Flights shared data revealing that, compared to last year, international flight bookings have jumped 40-45%. Surprisingly, domestic flight searches in December are also up 45-50% month-on-month. Travellers are not just interested in air travel—road trips are booming too. AbhiBus reports that bus searches have more than doubled compared to last year.

International travel is also on the rise. Short-haul Southeast Asian destinations like Bali, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, and Vietnam are seeing strong growth. Bali bookings are more than doubling. Why? Relaxed visa rules, affordable fares, and quick beach trips are driving the demand.

At the same time, new hotspots in the Middle East and Central Asia are gaining popularity. Almaty, the UAE, and Uzbekistan have all grown 40-42% year-on-year in bookings, followed by Qatar at 35% and Oman at 32%.

Between all mountain and beach vacations, spiritual travel is also increasing. Flights to Varanasi, Tirupati, and Ayodhya are up 25-30% year-on-year. Bus searches to temple towns such as Srisailam, Bhadrachalam, Tirupati, Kurnool, and Kadapa have grown 50-55% year-on-year.
